Volunteer Opportunities
The Washington Association of Churches (WAC) was
established in 1975 to undertake theological reflection, ecumenical
development, advocacy support, civic involvement and organizing and
educating activities statewide. Ten major Protestant denominations provide
the core support to our programs. The WAC is also in a cooperative partner
relationship with 12 local and regional ecumenical organizations across the
state. The Association’s program emphases include expanding relations with
member denominations, domestic hunger, continued concern for migrant farm
labor rights and housing, racial and environmental justice, disaster
recovery and a living wage for working families.
We can use volunteer help in many different capacities:
- Office assistance, including answering the phone, helping with bulk
mailings, filing and computer data entry.
- Occasional assistance is needed in planning and hosting meetings,
conferences and rallies. A variety of volunteers are needed for these
events: drivers, registration help, hospitality hosts & hostesses.
- Annually, a Church Advocacy Day is held in Olympia. For that event we
need transportation coordinators, registrars and data management.
- A CPA familiar with non-profit accounting to meet with our staff
financial associate to review our process on a monthly or quarterly basis
in our effort to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Experienced Archivist to organize and catalogue 35 years of Board of
Directors minutes and reports.
- Persons willing to participate in phone banks calling potential
donors.
- “Potential donor” leads
- Additional office responsibilities may be available depending on the
skills of the volunteer.
- If you are interested in participating in theological discussion and
discernment or ecumenical development please contact our Interim Executive
Director, Darel Grothaus.
You may request to volunteer for the program for which you are most
interested:
- General Office Administration; Accounting & Bookkeeping; Web
Management
- Suzanne Gordon, Director
for Operations
